The cover image shows induction of endothelial cells and mural cells from Flk1+ vascular progenitor cells. Flk1+ vascular progenitor cells derived from embryonic stem (ES) cells can reproduce early vascular organization processes, including differentiation of both endothelial and mural cells. Endothelial cells are detected with an anti-CD31 antibody and with Alexa488-conjugated anti–rat IgG antibody (green). Mural cells are detected with an anti-αSMA antibody and with Alexa546-conjugated anti–mouse IgG antibody (red). Nuclei are stained with DAPI (blue). See the article by Yamamizu et al on page 775.
