The osteoclast-associated receptor (OSCAR) is a collagen-binding immune receptor expressed on osteoclasts, monocytes, and dendritic cells. The crystal structure of OSCAR (white surface) is shown bound to a consensus collagen triple-helical peptide (blue coils). Mutagenesis of tyrosine residues Tyr-137, Tyr-171, and Tyr-179 (yellow) to phenylalanine-disrupted binding of the collagen peptide, indicating that the C-terminal Ig-like domain contains the primary collagen-binding site.
