Viral micro RNAs render B cells hyperresponsive and induce marginal zone proliferation and reorganization. Shown is the immune fluorescence image of an enlarged germinal center from Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus transgenic mice. These mice express all viral micro RNAs as well as multiple viral proteins that are normally found in viral lymphoma. The B cells in green have expanded and reorganized into a clearly demarcated, elongated follicle surrounding an enlarged germinal center that stains brightly with the activation marker PNA.
