Immunofluorescence microscopy image of E-selectin and PECAM-1 on cremaster vessels of tumor necrosis factor-α–challenged Berkeley sickle-cell disease mice pretreated with hydroxyurea and an AKT2-specific inhibitor. Cotreatment with both agents efficiently inhibits E-selectin expression, thereby impairing neutrophil recruitment onto the inflamed venules. See the article by Barazia et al on page 2511.
