Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) were genetically modified to express distinct fluorescent proteins under the control of VE-cadherin (green) and CD41a (red) promoter fragments. After in vitro differentiation of this transgenic hESC line on vascular feeder cells, hematopoietic cells (red) are observed in the lumen of primitive vessel-like structures (green).
