Colonies of differentiated cells derived from a single cell reveal the differentiation capacity of the colony-forming cells or colony-forming unit. Shown is a colony of megakaryocytes derived from a single megakaryocyte progenitor. Megakaryocytes of different sizes are stained red by immunohistochemistry using an anti-CD41 antibody.
