Three potential mechanisms of LSD1 corruption in SNAI1-overexpressing myeloid progenitors. From this study, SNAI1 overexpression will (1) hijack/recruit LSD1 at ectopic binding sites to repress the expression of SNAI1 target genes; (2) compete with and replace transcription factors that interact with LSD1 to regulate gene expression; and (3) deplete LSD1 from regulatory regions most probably resulting in transcriptional derepression.
