STOP trial results. Results of the STOP trial and STOP 2.^38,41  TCD screening coupled with regular blood transfusion therapy for those with an abnormal TCD measurement (TAMMV > 200 cm/s) was associated with a 92% reduction in stroke incidence compared with observation alone.³⁸  The threshold for treatment is 2 nonimaging TCD measurements >200 cm/s, TAMMV of ≥200 cm/s, or a single measurement >220 cm/s.³⁸  Reprinted from Adams et al with permission.³⁸
