Arginase I is not inducible by TH2 cytokines in human macrophages. BMDMs or human monocyte-derived macrophages were stimulated with the indicated cytokines (10 ng/mL each) for 24 hours and cell lysates were analyzed by immunoblotting for arginase I and ERK1/2 (to control for equal protein loading). The results of parallel determinations of arginase activities (in mU/mg protein) in aliquots of the same cell lysates are noted above the respective lanes of the arginase blots.
