Effect of oral L1 administration on serum DCI and MDCI and DHR oxidation rates. Time dependence. Serum samples from 10 β-thalassemia patients were obtained just before L1 oral administration and subsequently at 30-minute intervals. The samples were assayed for DHR oxidation rate (○, right scale), DCI (▪, left scale), and MDCI (▵, left scale) as described in “Materials and methods.” The results shown are from 4 patients, each representative of the different types of responses observed in the 10 patients.
