SHP-2 translocation to erythrocyte membrane is mediated by PP2-sensitive phosphorylation of band 3.

Red blood cells were incubated in the absence (lane 1) or presence of 1 mmol/L pervanadate (lanes 2, 5), 2 mmol/L diamide (lanes 3, 6), or 1 mmol/L NEM (lanes 4, 7). PP2 (5 μM) was added to the incubation mixture of assays of lanes 5-7. Erythrocytes were then subjected to hemolysis, and isolated membranes were treated as described in the legend of Figure 1 (B-C).
