Expansion of CD40–B cells.

(A) Overall expansion of 53 cultures from healthy individuals (red) and cancer patients (green). CD40–B cells were generated by means of CD40L-transfected NIH3T3 cells and rhIL-4. (B) (C) Cultures from 11 healthy individuals (red) and 8 cancer patients (green) were grown in pooled AB serum (panel B) or autologous plasma (panel C), and expansion was normalized for CD19⁺CD20⁺cells.
