Molt-4 (A) or U937 (B) cells (1 × 105) or platelets (1 × 106) (C) were incubated with PBS or various amounts of X plasma (1.7 × 104-3.4 × 105 IU HCV), after which the abundance of cell-associated HCV RNA and 18S rRNA was quantitated by real-time RT-PCR as described in Figure 3.
