Effects of IL-1β and TNFα on adhesion of murine neutrophils in vitro.

Fluorochrome-labeled purified murine neutrophils were incubated with IL-1β or TNFα at the concentrations shown in wells coated with BSA. The ability of IL-1β (■) and TNFα (▪) to stimulate firm adhesion is expressed as percentage of adhesion levels detected in unstimulated neutrophils (24.7% ± 1.5%). The effect of a single dose of fMLP (10⁻⁶ M) is shown for comparison (♦). These data represent mean ± SEM (n = 3; P < .001 for overall difference between the 2 curves; *P < .05 for difference between IL-1β and TNFα at equivalent doses).
