Reticuloendothelial iron mobilization in hypertransfused rats.

Measurements at 7 days after the intravenous injection of radioiron-tagged heat-damaged erythrocytes (⁵⁹Fe-DRBC). Treatment with deferoxamine (DFO), ICL670A (ICL), or both consisted of a single dose of 200 mg/kg, within 1 hour of labeling. Residual radioactivity represents whole body radioactivity minus the combined radioactivity of blood, spleen, and liver. Each treatment group consisted of 4 animals and the control group of 10 animals.
