Human cell engraftment with selected Ph¹-ALL cells according to CD34 and CD38 expression in the bone marrow of NOD/SCID mice.

Mice were implanted with the indicated number of purified cells (CD34⁺, CD34⁻, CD34⁺⁺CD38⁻, or CD34⁺CD38⁺, respectively) from patient No. 2, and 4-6 weeks later, human cell engraftment was estimated by Southern blot analysis and then inferred from the intensity of the characteristic 2.7 kb band.19 Each mouse was analyzed independently using this strategy.
