The tumor growing in SCID mice grafted with myeloma cells from a patient with MM were put in suspension. Cells were cultured at a concentration of 5 × 105 cells/mL in culture medium supplemented with 10 μg/mL of control murine IgG1 (control), 3 ng/mL of IL-6 (IL-6), or 10 μg/mL of a mixture of the B-S12 and B-P8 anti-gp130 MoAbs (5 μg each; anti-gp130 antibodies). Every 5 days, cells were counted and diluted at the cell concentration with fresh culture medium and the initial concentration of cytokine or antibodies. Results are the mean cumulative numbers of cells determined on six different culture wells.
