Figure 2. TLR-activated DCs differentially take up apoptotic cells. The ability of differentially stimulated DCs to take up apoptotic material was analyzed in coculture experiments. TLR3 (Poly I:C)– and TLR4 (LPS)–stimulated DCs are impaired in the phagocytosis of cellular material whereas TLR2 (Pam3Cys) and TLR7 (R848) activation do not significantly alter this property in comparison to immature DCs.
