WT and PTEN−/− mice were (A) left unchallenged (left), intraperitoneally injected with 1 mL 3% thioglycollate in distilled water (right) or (B) intraperitoneally injected with 200 μL of 6 × 107 E coli in 0.9% saline. At the indicated times mice were killed, and peritoneal lavage fluid was collected. Total neutrophil content in the lavage fluid was then calculated by microscopic examination of Wright-Giemsa–stained cytospins. Data shown at each time point are mean ± SD of 3 mice.
