Monocytes release proinflammatory cytokines after HRG^P-mediated uptake of necrotic cells. Production of proinflammatory cytokines IL-8 (A) and TNF (B) by THP-1 cells after incubation for 2, 4, 8, and 12 hours at 37°C with necrotic Jurkat T cells (10:1 necrotic Jurkat:THP-1 ratio), either in the presence or absence of endotoxin-free HRG^P (150 μg/mL). Cytokine levels were determined by a cytokine bead array (CBA) assay, with THP-1 cells alone or in the presence of endotoxin-free HRG^P being included as negative controls.
