Effect of cytokine treatment on ferritin and transferrin receptor mRNA levels in macrophage J774 cells. Total RNA isolated from J774 cells untreated or treated with IFN-γ/LPS for 24 hours as indicated was run in denaturing agarose gels, transferred to filters, and hybridized with 32P-labeled DNA probes for H and L ferritin subunits and TfR as described in Materials and Methods.
