Jurkat, HuT78, and U937 cells were cotransfected with HTLV-I LTR CAT (5 μg) and 5 μg Tax expression vector (BC3.9 Sph, + Tax) or the parental vector (BC12, –Tax), together with 5 μg of the vector control plasmid (pCMV-NeoBam), or the expression construct of either wild-type or one of the mutant p53s: 143A (V to A at amino acid 143), 248W (R to W at amino acid 248), and 273H (R to H at amino acid 273).
