Phylogenetic reconstruction of the VPS16 domain from selected VPS16A and VPS16B proteins. The multiple sequence alignment was generated using structural information (see supplemental Methods). Only nodes with at least 50% support (from 10 000 bootstrap replicates) are resolved. Under the assumption that the shared region from VPS16A and VPS16B has a common ancestor, VPS16A_YEAST represent the outgroup for this phylogenetic tree. Branch lengths indicate average amino acid substitutions per site (see scale bar).
