Under normal conditions, let-7 blocks translation of HMGA2 and it is not expressed. When normal regulation by let-7 is lost, HMGA2 is expressed, which leads to the assembly of transcriptional complexes and clonal expansion, tumorigenesis or senescence, depending on the cellular milieu.
