EMMPRIN induces migration in HMEC-1 endothelial cells via VEGFR-2. HMEC-1 cells transfected with VEGF, VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2 siRNA, or scrambled siRNA were seeded in a 12-well insert of Boyden chambers and then treated or not with Emp for 24 hours. VEGF (200 ng/mL) was used as a positive control. After 48 hours of incubation, cells were fixed, stained with Diff-Quik, and counted under a microscope.
