TGF-β1 induces a homogeneous DC morphology for M-DCs. CB monocytes were cultured with GM-CSF and IL-4 or M-CSF and IL-4 to generate GM-DCs and M-DC, respectively (left panels). TGF-β1 was added into GM-DC and M-DC cultures at the beginning of cell culture (right panels). Pictures were taken on day 5 of culture. Results are representative of more than 10 independent experiments. Cell morphology and photographs were observed and taken under a Zeiss Axiovert 25 inverted fluorescence light microscope (Carl Zeiss Microimaging, Thornwood, NY) with a CCD digital camera and computer for image analysis.
