Some processes, such as cell cycle control, differentiation, and apoptosis, are regulated by both c-Myc and BCL6, although through different targets. c-Myc also regulates the processes of cell adhesion, cell growth, and metabolism. BCL6 also plays a role in B-cell activation and inflammation. Interconnections between the 2 proteins are provided by cell cycle regulation through cyclin D and p27KIP1 and by Blimp-1, a transcriptional repressor of c-myc that is, in turn, repressed by BCL6.
