Spots on the membrane of these osmotically sphered cells are the result of both the size and the intensity of the antibody probe and the production of clusters of cross-linked CD47. Rhnull cells labeled with the same concentration of probe clearly exhibit a lower overall fluorescence intensity as well as a decrease in the number of clusters on the cell.
