The categorization of the cytogenetic findings in the table is based on the classification systems published by SWOG/ECOG, CALGB, and MRC.2,5 

*No chromosome aberrations after analysis of 20 or more BM metaphases.

†According to the SWOG/ECOG classification included within the group “abn 11q” and categorized as unfavorable risk.

‡Unfavorable risk according to the SWOG/ECOG classification and according to the revised version of the MRC classification based on multivariable analyses.

§Within the SWOG/ECOG classification, “abn 20q” is classified as unfavorable.

‖Within the CALGB classification classified as adverse risk in terms of overall survival.
