SAA binds to E coli and P aeruginosa but not B cepacia or S pneumoniae. Live E coli, P aeruginosa (7/1), S pneumoniae, and B cepacia (all at 10⁸ cfu's) were incubated with SAA (5 μg/mL; filled histogram) or without (open histogram) and binding was examined by FACS following incubation with monoclonal anti-SAA and FITC-labeled secondary antibody. Data show analysis of 30 000 events.
