Reduced numbers of CFU-S13 precursors in the BM of flt3L−/− mice

BM cells were isolated from the femurs of flt3L+/+ and flt3L−/− adult mice (n = 4-5/experiment), and pooled for each group. Groups of 10 lethally irradiated C57BL/6 mice were injected intravenously with 2.5 × 104 BM cells. After 13 days, the mice were sacrificed, the spleens isolated and fixed in Tellyesniczky solution. In each experiment, macroscopic colonies (≥1.0 mm in diameter) on the spleens were scored by 2 individuals, and the results averaged. Data are presented as the mean ± SD from the 3 experiments.
