Underlined lowercase letters indicate nucleotide insertions in the DNA sequence. The predicted protein is also shown; boldfacing indicates the positions of the 2 C-terminal tryptophan (W) residues. Underlined uppercase boldfacing indicates the new amino acid sequence at the C-terminus end of the NPM protein, common to all the mutated proteins.
All patients were CD34− and were neg/neg for t(8;21)/inv(16).
Pos indicates positive; auto, autologous BMT; neg, negative; and allo, allogeneic BMT.
Provisional names are indicated for different mutant types, according to Falini et al.3
Patient 82 showed a protein sequence identical to the mutant type E of Falini et al.3
