Average marrow per hind limb was determined by dividing the total number of harvested bone marrow cells (from all experiments) by the number of hind limbs. Frequency was determined as the average number of CFU-Cs (see Figure 2) per cells cultured. The total number of CFU-Cs per hind limb was calculated by multiplying the average number of bone marrow cells per hind limb by the average CFU-C frequency.
