Data indicate percent of suppression of HIV-1 replication in infected CD4+ cells by CD8+ cells at a 1:1 CD8+ cell/CD4+ cell input ratio. The CD8+ cells were treated with antibodies to CD3 and CD28 or cocultured with mature dendritic cells (mDCs) (see “Patients, materials, and methods” for details on procedures). Control-infected CD4+ cells showed substantial HIV-1 replication (reverse transcriptase activity at > 2 × 106 cpm/mL of culture fluid).
