Monolayers of BHK(+TF) cells were incubated with SFM alone or SFM supplemented with FVIIa (100 nM), FFR-FVIIa (100 nM), thrombin (10 nM), or serum (10% vol/vol) for 24 hours (2 to 10 experiments) or 48 hours (2-7 experiments). At the end of incubation, DNA fragmentation was measured using TUNEL assay. Columns A and B represent percent of apoptotic cells within the total population of cells measured in TUNEL assay. To calculate the percent of cells rescued from the apoptosis (column C) in various treatments, the number of cells rescued with 10% FCS treatment was set to 100%, and the number of cells in SFM was set to 0% rescue. Data from columns A and B were pooled to generate column C. The data represent mean data ± SEM. Statistically significant differences from values obtained with SFM are indicated.
