SDF-1—induced chemotaxis of total bone marrow cells or of bone marrow cells from 5-FU—treated mice was assayed in transwell chemotaxis chambers. First, 2.5 × 105 cells suspended in culture medium were placed in the upper chamber and allowed to migrate for 1 hour at 37°C. Cells migrating to the lower chamber containing SDF-1 were counted and expressed as the ratio of the number of migrating cells to the number of cells placed in the upper chamber. Data are means ± SD; n = 4 for the total bone marrow cell experiments and n = 2 for experiments with bone marrow from 5-FU—treated mice.
