Sorted CD34+flt3+ and CD34+flt3- cells (2 500-70 000) from CB were transplanted into irradiated NOD/SCID mice. Human multilineage reconstitution was evaluated by FACS at 6 to 8 and at 12 to 13 weeks after transplantation (as indicated in “Materials and methods”). Data are expressed as mean (SEM) percentage human reconstitution from 3 to 5 experiments for each experimental group. Mice were defined as positive when reconstitution of both lymphoid and myeloid human cells was detected in the BM (“Materials and methods”)

*

P <.05 when comparing level of reconstitution observed in mice that underwent transplantation with CD34+flt3+ and CD34+flt3- cells or in fraction of mice positive for human lymphomyeloid reconstitution after transplantation of the 2 populations. ND indicates not determined
