After preparing a DC-enriched preparation, as in Table 2, the preparation was fluorescent-labeled with 1 marker-specific mAb and sorted into fractions negative, intermediate, or high for the chosen marker, eliminating autofluorescent and dead cells in a separate channel. Fully developed CD8α^- DCs should be found in the CD8α^-, the CD11c^hi, and the MHC 2^hi fractions. Assay for immediate precursor activity and expression of results are as for Table 2. Results represent 3 individual experiments, each typical of 2 such experiments undertaken
