Addition of allogeneic T-cell-depleted bone marrow accelerates the engraftment of white blood cells

Lethally irradiated (8.5 Gy) BALB/c mice received transplants of one unit (2.5 × 106) of T-cell-depleted bone marrow cells from C57BL/6 or SJL/J mice or the combination of both. Peripheral blood was harvested by means of EDTA microtubes. White cells were counted on a hematocytometer. Platelets were counted with a cell counter. The maximal volume of blood harvested was 50 μL at each time point. Values represent the mean ± SD. Similar experiments were repeated 4 times. The pretransplantation level of white blood cells in BALB/c recipients is 8167 ± 1583 per μL blood.
