CD34⁺c-kit⁺ cells were sorted from genetically marked early E10 (30-35 somite pairs) and E11 tissues before and after the appearance of AGM HSCs, respectively. Repopulated/transplanted indicates the number of recipients found to be high-level, long-term engrafted over the total number of recipients injected; E10, embryonic day 10; and AGM, aorta-gonads-mesonephros; other abbreviations are explained in Table 1.

Number of sorted CD34⁺c-kit⁺ cells directly transplanted or cocultured with stromal cells for 5 days before transplantation into irradiated adult recipients. Repopulation was tested at more than 4 months after transplantation, and recipients were considered positive when more than 10% of peripheral blood cells were donor derived (1-3 experiments).
