Lack of effect of SDF-1 on the cycling of primitive progenitors in the adherent layer of CML LTCs assessed 2 to 3 days after a previous half-medium change

SDF-1 was added at 100 ng/mL and TGF-β was added at 5 ng/mL. The results shown are the mean ± SEM of 7 independent experiments. SDF-1 had no significant effect on the cycling of any CML progenitor type whereas the effects of TGF-β on the cycling of the primitive BFU-Es and primitive CFU-GMs were significant (P < .001), although TGF-β did not significantly (P > .05) affect the cycling of the mature CFU-GMs. The total colony counts in the control groups (no3H-thymidine) ranged from 10 to 70.
