A Dupriez score of 0 was assigned to a hemoglobin concentration greater than 100 g/L and a white blood cell count between 4 × 109/L and 30 × 109/L; a score of 1, to either a hemoglobin concentration less than 100 g/L or a white blood cell count greater than 30 × 109/L or less than 4 × 109/L; and a score of 2, if both the hemoglobin concentration and the white blood cell count were in the aberrant range.

The severity score is the sum of severity points derived from the values of hemoglobin concentration, white blood cell count, platelet count, and spleen volume (see “Patients”).
