Mice were given 5 × 104 U interferon-α or control preparation daily for 4 days beginning the day before challenge.
Mice were challenged intravenously with 4000 sporozoites. Mice were considered infected when they developed parasitemia.
Mice were challenged intravenously with 20 000 sporozoites and killed 42 hours later for determination of parasite ribosomal DNA (rDNA) load in their livers. Results are expressed as the mean values of the parasite rDNA (log pg), obtained from 5 mice ± SE.
