Binding was performed as described in “Materials and methods.” The binding of 125I-FGF to α2M or α2M* was quantitated by measuring the α2M- or α2M*-associated radioactivity by Phosphorimager. The binding values were determined from the mean of 3 (FGF-1 and FGF-6) or 4 (FGF-2 and FGF-4) independent experiments ± SD.
Kd indicates equilibrium dissociation constant; FGF, fibroblast growth factor. “—” indicates that these FGFs were investigated to determine if they bound to α2M or α2M* but that specific binding of these FGFs to α2M or α2M* was not detected (Figure 1).
