All primary and secondary recipient mice were lethally irradiated. The percentage of positive cells was determined by comparing polymerase chain reaction amplifications of vector sequences with controls, known percentages of transduced cells diluted in untransduced cells. Group 1 mice were transplanted with cells harvested 2 weeks after the primary transplant; group 2 mice were transplanted with cells harvested 7 weeks after the primary transplant.
