Superoxide dismutase-inhibitable O2production was measured in Percoll-purified BM neutrophils (79% ± 9% neutrophils; mean + standard deviation [SD]) using a continuous cytochrome C reduction assay, as described in Methods. Data are the mean ± SD. N indicates the number of mice studied. MSCV-m91Neo–transplant recipients were studied at 11 months (2 mice) or 18 months (2 mice) posttransplant. Also shown are the percentage of NADPH oxidase-positive neutrophils in each preparation, as measured by the NBT test.

*

Vmax = nm O2/min/107 cells; cumulative O2 = nm O2/30 min/107 cells.

Adjusted value if 100% of neutrophils were NBT-positive after MSCV-m91Neo–mediated gene transfer.
