Data on viability are extracted from experiments also shown in Fig4. Values are means of triplicate determinations from a representative experiment. For the apoptosis assay, cells were cultured without or with 10−6 mol/L octreotide for 48 hours, harvested, and incubated with fluorescein-conjugated annexin V and PI and analyzed in a FACScan. Values represent the percentage of cells that were annexin V–positive/PI-negative.
