Inhibition of ERK2 Activity by Sphingosine

PMN (2 × 106/mL) were preincubated with buffer or 10 μmol/L sphingosine for 30 minutes at 22°C and then activated with 10−7 mol/L fMLP for 10 minutes at 37°C. EIgG were added and phagocytosis was allowed to proceed for 5 minutes. ERK activity was performed as described in Materials and Methods. Values represent the mean ± SD for three experiments (P < .001).
