The Cox proportional regression model was used to allow for factors that might influence the outcome other than the treatment group. The only relevant factor was patient age. The adjusted relative risks (RR) for transplant outcome according to treatment group are shown, together with the 95% confidence interval (CI) and the significance (P). A relative risk less than 1.0 means the outcome was less likely in the study group compared with the control group; a figure more than 1.0 means that the outcome was more likely.
