Alteration of Methylation Status of MDR1Gene in the Three Groups of Clinical Status of AML Patients
Status and Clinical Outcome . | No. of Patients With Hypermethylation* . | No. of Patients With MDR1 Positive† . | Average Value of MDR1 Gene Expression† . |
---|---|---|---|
Primary diagnosis with CR | 8/12 (66%) | 5/12 (42%) | 2.7 (n = 12) |
Relapse with CR | 2/4 (50%) | 2/4 (50%) | 2.8 (n = 4) |
Relapse with Refractory | 0/7 (0%) | 6/7 (86%) | 4.9 (n = 7) |

Methylation status was analyzed by PCR (Fig 6). Hypermethylation status defined as described in Results. Number of patients with hypermethylation status of MDR1 gene out of total number of patients tested, and frequency is shown in parentheses.
MDR1 expression was determined as described in the legend to Fig 4. Positive means more than 3.0. Total number of tested patients is presented in parentheses.
